Week 1 of a seeded watermelon fast

Yay! Can you believe it! Week 1 of my watermelon fast is officially in the books. For those who don’t know, I kicked off this watermelon fast to help me transition to the Alkaline Electric lifestyle by Dr. Sebi. To be honest, I didn’t know I would last this long but I am happy that I have. As of this moment while I am writing this recap, I am on day 9. 🎉🎉 I’m amazed right now. Seriously. Anyway, let’s dive right into the details.

7 days of watermelon only

I’ll be honest, I feel like I’m on a watermelon high because I don’t feel like I am depriving myself at all. I guess it’s that way because watermelon is my favorite fruit. When you get the right one – it’s juicy and sweet! Perfect for satisfying my sweet tooth yet it’s nourishing and hydrating to my body. What more can you ask for?

There are various way to do a watermelon cleanse but I’m going to talk about what I did. None of this was really set in stone, however, it’s just what I naturally did or had already implemented in my daily life.

My daily routine

Wake up until 12pm. I would use this time to drink water and herbal tea. There was one day where I had to eat earlier than 12pm. The hunger pangs were strong and the taste in my mouth was…. different.. to the point it was making me nauseaus. However the majority of the time I stuck to my herbal teal and water.

12pm until 8pm. During this time I ate as much watermelon as I wanted. While I was free to eat when I pleased, I usually stuck to two meals. I still eat with my husband and we eat together. I would make his lunch (which was watermelon) and his dinner meal and we would both sit down to eat.

I also had water during this period and if I had not drank all my tea by 12pm, I would still be sipping on it in this time frame.

For the most part, I stretched daily and had a few walks every other day. Nothing strenuous. Sometimes I would take my walk after 5pm and other times I would find myself going in the morning. I did not have a set schedule here.

Water intake

I strive for a gallon of spring water a day but in reality, I’ve been drinking closer to half a gallon of water a day. I’ve tried to drink more but forcing myself has led to a sick feeling so I just drink what I can tolerate.

My 7 day experience

Okay so listen up. I think it’s only right to share a few of the things I experienced while eating only delicious watermelon for a week. I’m not sure if this is normal and maybe some of it could be attributed to not drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, or eating enough watermelon. Who knows. I have to change those things and see if I notice a difference. Anyway here is a list of things I wrote down that I noticed during the first 7 days of my watermelon fast.

  • Waking up early
  • Lightheadedness when walking up stairs
  • Metallic taste in mouth
  • Bloated
  • Ton of bathroom breaks
  • Food cravings
  • Leg pain (I had to massage it and elevate it with pillows)

Okay so at the end of day 7 I actually had a mango before I went to bed. I actually thought that would be it for my fasting but I woke up the next day and continued on with watermelon.

In closing

This week has been one to remember. I am extremely pleased with myself and am looking forward to each day. This fast is open ended – meaning I have not put any restrictions on myself to complete a certain # of days which has made it so enjoyable. We will see where this takes me.

Have you done a watermelon fast?
